Kevin Vincent is a San Diego based artist working primarily with sculpture and assemblages that utilize found trees and charged materials, such as rope, leather, bone, stones, ash, and copper. He investigates the relationships between people of color and materials that have historically been used to harm or instill fear. He explores questions surrounding memory, historical trauma, growth, perseverance, and integration through the physical act of combining materials that represent the body and materials that represent trauma. Each of his assemblages use the same set of materials in a unique way to visualize the effects of trauma and ways individuals deal with that trauma.

Vincent grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and received his BFA in sculpture at Georgia State University in 2014. He received his MFA in sculpture from University of California, San Diego in 2020. His show Material Memory has recently been featured at Oceanside Museum of Art.
