JAX

[Image description: A black and white photo of JAX. Her face is completely covered with layers of black twists and her hands are gripping the twists close to her face. She is wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and beaded bracelets on both of her wrists.]

JAX is an interdisciplinary artist from South Central Los Angeles. Her work focuses on energy transference, personal/shared histories, and communal practices. Using synthetic braiding hair as a medium, she creates nodes between past and present, her installations acting as webs of conversations. JAX completed her B.A. in Art Practice, African American Studies, and Creative Writing at UC Berkeley in 2021, and graduated from UC San Diego, receiving her M.F.A. in Visual Arts in 2024. JAX has been shown in various group shows in San Diego and the Bay Area, most recently in the ICA 2024 NextGen exhibition.
