Alicia Peterson Baskel has been making dances in San Diego since 2003 and received her Masters in Fine Arts degree in Dance Theatre from UC San Diego in 2011. She became a 2015 San Diego Foundation Creative Catalyst Fellow for work made with her contemporary dance group, Wallpaper Performance Company. Baskel’s choreographic work explores the vast spectrum of possibility existing between improvisation and highly set structures with an aim to leave her audience and performers feeling more connected with themselves, to their immediate surroundings, and to the possibilities that exist in their imagination.

Baskel is also a fiber artist and creative writer with an endless curiosity for the art-making process in all forms. She is host of the podcast Inside the Creative Process where she is able to interview artists across genres about their process and their work. Baskel’s desire to encourage other’s to recognize and tap into their creativity has led her to teach Breathwork, movement, and meditation for creatives.

Baskel was a participant in the 2022 HereIn Writers Workshop.
